About Stem Health
At Stem Health, we’re building something truly special. We’re a small, thoughtful team reimagining the healthcare experience for individuals seeking an elevated, proactive approach to care. By combining medical excellence with the warmth of hospitality, we deliver personalized, relationship-based primary care in a beautiful, thoughtfully designed space. Our work is data-informed, grounded in time and trust, and focused on developing best-in-class practices that put our clients first and drive meaningful, measurable health outcomes. We’re looking for curious, driven people who want to grow with us and help shape what great care looks like.
The Vision: Eye Care, Reimagined
Vision and eye health are central to the proactive, longitudinal care our members expect at Stem Health. As we open our flagship clinic at First Canadian Place, we are looking for an Optometrist to help us design the optometry program from the ground up — selecting the equipment, shaping the optometry suite, and determining the clinical pathways for diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
The Mission: Precision Care, Whole-Person Context
As an integrated practitioner, you bring clinical mastery and a builder’s mindset to the optometry program. You will:
- Build the Program: Advise on the selection and procurement of OCT, retinal imaging, visual field, fundus photography, and refraction equipment. Help spec the optometry suite — vendor selection, layout, and build-out — and design the clinical pathways for diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration screening.
- Read with Precision: Interpret OCT, retinal images, visual fields, and fundus photography captured during Annual Health Assessments. Deliver structured reports back into the member’s record, and lead portal-based virtual triage for member eye-health concerns and follow-ups.
- See the Whole Person: Lead comprehensive eye appointments, ocular disease screening, and consultations for members. You prioritize time and trust, ensuring the member never feels like a checkbox.
- Carry the Sanctuary: You are responsible for the “Stem Health Experience” inside the optometry suite. You deliver a seamless, professional, high-touch atmosphere — and help shape the member optical program.
- Collaborate on the Whole: Stay digitally connected to Family Medicine, Endocrinology, Dermatology, and Cardiology, ensuring that your eye-health insights are integrated into the member’s Unified Health Story rather than siloed in a separate visit.
Your Expertise
- Clinical Mastery: You are a Doctor of Optometry (OD) in good standing with the College of Optometrists of Ontario, bringing at least 3 years of full-scope experience.
- Diagnostic Imaging Fluency: You are confident interpreting OCT, retinal imaging, visual fields, and fundus photography, and comfortable with remote, asynchronous reading workflows.
- Refined Disease Management: You bring demonstrated experience managing diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration — with strong referral judgment and established ophthalmology relationships.
- The Builder Instinct: You have spec’d or stood up a clinical room before — or you have always wanted to. You hold informed opinions on equipment vendors, suite layout, and the workflows that make a practice run well.
- The Steady Hand: You are an expert at building rapport and educating members, acting as a calm guide who translates complex findings into plain language and simplifies the path to long-term eye health.
- The Stem Standard: Experience in concierge medicine, executive health, or hospitality-forward environments is a significant asset, as you understand the nuance of curated comfort and discreet, high-touch service.
- Startup Comfort: You thrive in a fast-moving, evolving environment where priorities shift and you are comfortable wearing multiple hats — clinician, advisor, builder.
The Stem Promise: A Different Rhythm of Eye Care
- Build It With Us: You will not inherit someone else’s setup. You will help choose the equipment, design the suite, and write the protocols.
- Paced Care: A time-rich, low-volume practice model designed for meaningful patient relationships rather than throughput.
- Curated Comfort: A calm, wellness-forward clinical setting that uses subtle nature cues and warmth over clinical gloss.
- Modern Tools: Access to the technology and equipment needed to turn each visit into a best-in-class clinical experience, with calibration and protocols you help define.
- Anticipatory Growth: A unique opportunity to lead within a brand that prioritizes longitudinal data and proactive care over reactive treatment
